Overview
When approval is required and not yet granted, ContentScaler blocks publishing in the interface and on the server, so the gate cannot be bypassed — even by automatic publishing. Once the item is Approved the controls unlock. Editing approved content makes the approval stale and you must request it again, which keeps what goes live exactly matched to what was signed off.
Details
- Publish dialog — Publish Now is disabled with a notice such as "Approval is required before this item can be published."
- Schedule dialog — the schedule button is disabled with a status-specific message (for example, that approval is still pending, or was rejected and must be revised).
- Schedule queue — Publish now is disabled with the tooltip "Approval required before publishing."
- Automatic publishing — scheduled posts are re-checked at publish time; an unapproved post is recorded as Approval Blocked and not published.
- Re-approval — if you edit content after it was approved, the status becomes Needs new approval; ContentScaler detects this by comparing against the approved version. Rejected or Changes requested items must be revised and re-submitted.
Check before you move on
- Sending a new request supersedes any earlier pending request, so reviewers always see the latest version.
- Plan to request approval with enough lead time before a scheduled slot, since the gate is re-checked at publish time.
