Overview
A social post is generated from a content page type that has been marked as a social media template and tied to one or more platforms. The platform link is what gives the template its icon and decides which connected accounts can use it — so a template with no platforms selected will appear empty in the posting wizard. Setting this up once unlocks fast, repeatable posting afterwards.
Steps
- Go to Settings -> Content Page Types and open or create a page type.
- On the Basic Info tab, find the Social Media Page Type card.
- Turn on Available in Social Media Wizard.
- In the Target platforms selector that appears, tick every platform this template is for (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, X, Threads, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, Bluesky).
- Save. Only page types with the toggle on and status Active appear in the posting wizards.
Details
- Help text on the card explains: the platforms you tick determine the platform icon and which connected accounts can use the template in the posting wizard.
- If you select no platforms, ContentScaler warns that pages from this template won't show available accounts in the posting wizard.
- A template with a default for a single platform is pre-selected for you when you pick that platform in the single-post wizard.
Check before you move on
- If a template shows no platform icon and "No connected account available" in the wizard, it is missing its target platforms — open it and select them.
- Platforms on the template and accounts you have connected must line up, or no eligible accounts will appear.
