Overview
Often the person who owns a social account — an internal colleague or an external client — is not the person running ContentScaler. Instead of asking for their password, you can email them a secure link to authorize the account on your behalf. This is available with PostPeer and keeps credentials entirely on the owner's side.
Steps
- In the Social media accounts dialog, choose a platform and click Request OAuth.
- Fill in the recipient email (required) and optionally a recipient name and an account label such as "Sales team account."
- Choose the account type (Personal, Organization, Page, or Business) and the language (English or Deutsch) for the email and the page they will see.
- Add a short purpose note explaining why you need access, then click Send request.
- The recipient gets an email with a link valid for 72 hours.
Details
- The recipient opens the link with no ContentScaler account, sees a branded page showing who requested it, the company, domain, platform, and expiry, then clicks Connect account and completes the platform's normal authorization.
- You are notified when they finish, and the account appears in your connections.
- The OAuth requests panel lists every request you sent with recipient, platform, date, and a status such as pending, opened, completed, expired, cancelled, or failed.
Check before you move on
- Do not confuse OAuth requests (authorizing a social account) with the approval workflow (signing off on content) — they are separate features.
- Links expire after 72 hours; if one lapses, send a fresh request.
